Thankful Thursday

Before we start our list, I thought I would give you an update. Today Casey is starting a second induction of chemo (more of the same chemo for 5 days). The doctor is very hopeful that this will put his leukemia into remission. The rash he had is blossomed (that's what the doctors called it) and is starting to go away. He is ready for his second round. Another marathon begins. Here are some things we are thankful for:

1. For the ever changing technology of medication.
2. Children that can go on vacation without us.
3. All the visitors and phone calls that come to the Mountain View vacation club.
4. The new classy recliner that arrived to our room this morning (thank you thank you)
5. Repair shops that fix cars
6. Surprise parties
7. That baldness is beautiful
8. Nurses that come immediately when you push the call button
9. Miracles
10. All those that leave comments

What we are most of all thankful for is the knowledge that we have in our Heavenly Fathers plan, that we have the opportunity to be with our family for eternity. That he loves us and watches over us. He has blessed us so much, through the power of prayer, fasting and the priesthood. We are so thankful for everything we have and all the experiences we have been through, we have been strengthed through it all. It seems so hard at times but He always seems to get us through it. Thanks for all those that help!

We're thankful for your strength, and to be related to such great people. We're also thankful for this blog, so that cousins clear over in Florida can keep up with cousins way out in Nevada. It's been too long since we've seen each other, but our thoughts are always with you.

Casey, as far as the bald thing goes, I don't think that style will work for Rich or I. Not everyone looks as good as Ken Kaufman(although he is not really bald. Go for it Ken!!!)
We love you guys and are thankful to be your friends. We are friends still right?, even though I tried to give you a raw hamburger.

Let me tell you what I am thankful for... Text messages from Casey at 11:48 PM, that read, "Are you awake?"

Apparently just because Casey has lost all sense of time from being in hospital, we are all awake at all times of the night!

Casey, for the record... I was not awake.

Your strong man, Casey, with a strong family. Hang in there buddy.

You guys are awesome--thanks for continuing to share your experience with all of us (and for sharing that picture of Ken Kaufman!!) It's so fun to read about your "adventures!"

Okay, you made my eyes water on that one.

Ahhhh...lovely chemo. Great that it takes care of the stuff, but not fun after tastes in the back of your throat, or in your veins. But I will say, bald is easier to manage than some of hair days I've had since then. Maybe I will shave it all off a la Britney, but in deference to you.

I think you need a stylin' bandana. You know, one with skulls and roses and stuff all over it. Unless, of course, you're more of the purple flowers and whispy rainbows kind...let me know. I'll hook you up (not the IV kind of hook up). :)

It's always better to fight than give in - I'm thrilled you're a fighter, and a pinata partier. Give those nurses a run for their money. And Lani - I'm excited you have a good recliner. And a blog.

when my grandpa had surjury on his leg and we saw a tube thing that started in his leg into a machine and back into him. we asked the doctors what they were doing and they said that they were pumping the blood back into him. it was way cool.

Casey and Lani, thanks for your great strength and exciting stories. Never thought I would be so thanful for Tim having kidney stones, but considering the other option, I am. He had another blasting done yesterday so has been out of commission. I am home sick with a cold so will wait until I'm healthy to come visit. Sounds like you guys have been doing quite the partying. Hopefully we'll make it to the next one. We love you guys and your in our prayers and thoughts always.

Huh? That's pretty amazing how you guys are giving us all so much strength through this experience. Aren't we the one that should be on the giving end? Lani, you are an awesome women! Not only to put up with Casey:) but you are his source of strength. We wish we were closer than being here in Michigan. Thanks for letting us be a part of this through your blogs.

Keep up the good fight!!

Thanks to your blog, the Williams family here in Washington (and elsewhere) is able to know of your treatment and progress and to feel of your great faith and strength. Looking back on our lives, our times of greatest adversity have been the times of greatest spiritual growth. You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers every day.

Casey & Lani
Just wanted to say hello and let you know that your family will be in my prayers today. Lani, thank you for yesterday. I felt such a peaceful feeling after talking with you. You really helped me through a tough day, more than you know. I am praying you will have the same peace today.

I have received a few interesting comments on my recent hairstyle that make me wonder if I should stick with it. Casey, I would like your vote...

Ben Gurtierrez and Jeff Whittle think I loook like an Ultimate Fighter (by the way, that's one of the nicest compliments I've ever received!). Ken Johnson thinks I look like a Marine (I guess I don't have an "intelligent" enough look for the Air Force). Brother Bob Cordner asked me if I was sick.

President Bingham was concerned if the ward had seen it yet (this was last Montday at Scout Camp). President Waite just shook his head, and President Hansen didn't recognize me. Casey, you didn't recognize me either, at first.

Lamar Noorda said it wasn't short enough. Tori Reese said it looks normal - everyone is wearing their hair like this now-a-days. Angela likes it!

Since i still haven't worked since I got the haircut, it will be interesting to see how the haircut is received in my "work" circle.

Casey, Collin Johnson shaved his head last night for you. DJ and Del Stanger are doing it tomorrow. I've heard a few more of the young men are doing the same thing before we come visit you Wednesday night.

Thanks for your great example. We love and support you and your family!

Things I would miss most:

1. Toilet papering your house when your next store helping the neighbors. :)
2. Ditching church and hiding out at the Bushmans house. (And parking my car in the garage, so there is no evidence)
3. Arguing with my mom about getting a job.
4. Being able to make my mom take me shopping. Then laugh when she gets yelled at for spending too much money.
5. Seeing Caseys butt when he's getting his biopsy.
6. Having chair races at the hospital and getting in trouble by the cleaning lady while waiting to see casey's butt.
7. Giving you spanish cards that you can't traslate. (hopefully it didn't say anything bad, it was all my mom's idea)
8. Seeing that funny picture of us in your room. Makes me laugh every time.
9. Having my car break down on me.
10. Waiting for you to take me out to a steak dinner. (your up to 5 friends). Then downgrading in to fast food without stating the rules. CHEATER!

Hope your biopsy results were good! We'll come visit in a few days, I know you can't get enough of us! :)
love, Sam <3
