First day without chemo!

Today was the first day without chemotherapy! Now we just wait to see if it kills all of the leukemia. They knock your white blood counts all the way to 0. A normal persons white blood count is anywhere from 4 - 11. Casey came into the hospital with a count of 120. His leukemia was very rapid. Today his white blood count is 21, but they are still seeing blasts (those are what they call leukemia). The doctors are worried that he is resistant to the chemo. Which means we go to plan B. We don't really know what plan B is. We should know by Monday or Tuesday. His main oncologist has been out of town for a week. Casey is starting to get a few fevers, which don't really amount to anything. Thank goodness! Some of you have asked what signs he had to know that this disease was back. It was as simple as just having a rountine blood test and them telling you we think you have a 50/50 chance your leukemia is back, and then by the end of the week the doctors want you admitted to the hospital. His spirits are still high and we enjoy all of the comments we receive. This definetly cheers him up. Thanks for all the prayers they are definetly felt.

Also thanks for the wonderful birthday! He had many calls, cards and visitors. Jill showed up with homemade tie-dyed t-shirts and a disco ball. He received many great gifts (magnifying glass, and a regifted walker). Thanks for an unforgettable birthday!

One more item Casey wants me to talk about. He was taking a nap today, when he had a visitor arrive. The older woman woke him up and said how are you doing kiddo! She walked over to the table and asked where did you get the table son! My wife Lani brought it! She looked at me funny and said you aren't Andre. Then realized she was in the wrong room. What is really funny is we met Andre yesterday walking in the halls. He is completly bald 300 pounds and he was wearing underwear with a cape on! It made for and exciting morning. Lets see what happens tomorrow.

I didn't know Casey's middle name is Andre. Congrats on finishig the chemo. The "B" in Plan B stands for Better. Hang in there man.

It was so great to visit with you yesterday Casey (of course you too Lani!)--you looked good. How was your birthday steak? I can see how someone could mistake you for a 300lb bald guy in his underwear--it happens to Andrew all the time!

Good thing you have things to laugh at in the hospital to keep you going. Lani, I think you asked me when we were heading to the wedding and i never told you. We are leaving the 1st and coming back the 8th. Hope you guys can make it. It has been way too long!

I like the b in plan b "Better". That is such a Dr comment Brian. Anyway, I decided the reason all these crazy things are happening to you is because the Lord is giving you something to laugh at. If I didn't know you and just read your blog I would think you were lying. You guys are great. Love and miss you.

Hey superman!
I would have loved to see that old lady. Oh boy!
Glad to hear some disco fever was happening and not just your fever. (boy that was cleverly said)
Hope the zapper starts happening to get those blasts zapped!
That's way neat tomorrow for all of us to participate in your fast. I can't fast, but my prayers are big. I know, instead, I'll just eat gross food (like dog food, which we have a lot of) and that will be my way of fasting for ya.
Can't wait to hear more funny stories. Stay strong, Laura and Greg (asleep on the couch) ha ha

I'm not a big fan of these blogs because they make me feel like a stalker. But somehow Christal found it and I'm glad she did. Casey, we had no idea that you were back in for another round. Seems like you always rise above whatever the challenge is. Please know that you are in our prayers.

Hey Casey!
We keep planning to come see you but our family is so sickly right now. My niece is in town and has cold sores all over... which I was told was ok, however the sore throat was not. Augh! Sam thought this whole thing was just a ploy to not have to take her and her fiends out to lunch! Boy just a bit over the top don't you think? Well she is gonna bring her friends to the hospital and have lunch ....in the hallway so you might as well get outta there! Keep your heads held high! We love you guys! The Watkins Family

Hey dork! It's Samantha, your favorite neighbor. :) I bought a whole case of toilet paper to use on your house but then you wont be there to clean it all up, so I guess I'm gonna just have to use it on your room! You should yell at Jill for not making you a myspace everyone knows that's whats "in". I thought you were cooler than that. Since I'm such a nice person I'll make one for you myself. Details to come! Well I hope your doing good. When you get out of the hospital I'll take you and 3 friends out for a nice steak dinner ;) but if you take to long then it's only fast food! <3

A myspace page, huh? wow. You really are cool. So I finally got a chance to check out this blog. Sounds like a party every day there at Mountain View. We are planning to come visit tonight. I hear Monday nights are packed but hopefully you can squeeze us in. And we're not sick , although I was exposed to lice at girls camp. But I guess lice is one thing you don't have to worry much about when you don't have any hair. So... what is plan B?

Casey:
I just called your Mother to see if Gary had cut his hair. I will have to go and encourage him. I might have to do mine to urge him on.
I took Lexie, my 6 year old grand daughter(who has lived here most of her life) out to see Ben's 9 yellow pups. Between Charlie and the pups she had a great time. It is always interesting to go to Ben's.
I told Ben that I was packing the wheel bearings on my swather today.
He said that what ever I did I was not to get you to do it for me. He said that you were fired from that job.
Harvest is getting started. I think my barley will be Ok. The yeild will not be great but I expect the weight to be at least 48 lbs.
Some barley crops being harveted are very light.
Rod Bust had 6 John Deere combines going at his place today.
The river was busy today. Lots of people floating. All of the campgrounds in the forestry are closed due to fire hazard.
Take care
Delton
